These are the terms for using Pearlz during its closed beta. They are written to be readable, but they remain the binding agreement between you and the operator of Pearlz. By using Pearlz, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Pearlz is operated by Johanna Weber, who trades under the name "Cool Girl Apps." In these terms, "we" and "us" refer to Johanna Weber, trading as Cool Girl Apps.

1. What Pearlz is

Pearlz is a daily wellness journal that helps you track your cycle and how you are feeling. It is a place to log your day, notice patterns over time, and receive short, friendly reflections. That is the whole job. Pearlz is a lifestyle and self-knowledge tool.

2. What Pearlz is not (the important part)

Pearlz is not a medical device, and it does not give medical advice.

• It is not a substitute for a doctor, nurse, therapist, or any qualified health professional.
• It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.
• It is not regulated as a medical device and is not FDA-cleared or approved.
• Nothing in the app should be used to make medical decisions.

If something about your health concerns you, please speak with a qualified healthcare professional. In a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services.

Fertile window estimates. Pearlz can show an estimated fertile window based on the cycle information you have logged. These are rough estimates generated from your own inputs and simple cycle math — not measurements of your actual ovulation. They are a cycle-awareness feature for curiosity and self-knowledge only. Do not rely on Pearlz for contraception, to avoid pregnancy, or to plan or achieve pregnancy. It is not designed or validated for any of these purposes.

AI reflections. Pearlz sometimes offers a short reflection. These are generated by AI to be a small, friendly moment — like a note from a friend who gets it. They are not therapy, counseling, medical guidance, or professional advice of any kind. Please take them in that spirit.

3. This is beta software — expect rough edges

Pearlz is in closed beta, distributed through Apple TestFlight. That means:

• There will be bugs. Things may break, look wrong, or behave unexpectedly.
• Data loss is possible. Because your data is stored only on your device and this is pre-release software, entries could be lost through bugs, updates, or reinstalls. Do not store anything in Pearlz that you cannot afford to lose, and do not treat it as your only record of important information.
• No uptime or availability guarantees. Features may be unavailable, removed, or changed at any time.

4. You need an internet connection for some things

• Voice tracking sends your transcribed text to an AI service (see the Privacy Policy), so it requires an internet connection. If you are offline, voice entries will not work.
• Viewing and browsing your existing data works offline, since it is stored on your device.
• Because voice features depend on a third-party AI service (Anthropic's Claude API), that feature's availability is partly outside our control.

5. Accuracy — please review your entries

Voice transcription and AI organization are not perfect. The app may mishear words or sort things into the wrong category. Treat what Pearlz produces as a helpful first pass, and review your entries to make sure they reflect what you actually meant. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you keep.

6. Your responsibilities

By using Pearlz, you agree that:

• You are at least 17 years old.
• You will use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes.
• You will not misuse it — no attempting to break it, reverse-engineer it, scrape it, or interfere with its services. (Normal beta feedback about bugs is very welcome.)
• You understand it is a wellness tool, not a medical one, and you will not rely on it as if it were medical.

7. Your data and content

Anything you log in Pearlz is yours. We do not claim ownership of your entries. How your data is handled — what stays on your device, what happens during voice processing, and your choices — is covered fully in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

If you send us feedback, suggestions, or bug reports, you grant us permission to use them to improve Pearlz, without obligation to you.

8. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pearlz is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any estimate or reflection it produces will be accurate or reliable. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Johanna Weber (trading as Cool Girl Apps) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of Pearlz — including, for clarity, lost entries and any decision you make based on the app's estimates or reflections (such as fertile-window estimates).

Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

10. Changes

We may update these terms as Pearlz evolves. We will update the "Last updated" date, and for significant changes we will show a notice in the app. Continuing to use Pearlz after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may also change, suspend, or end the beta — or any feature — at any time.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you may also have rights under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence, and nothing here takes those away.
